A new cultural and gallery space is taking shape in the industrial Šmeral factory complex in Brno. The project builds on the Šmeral Graffiti Wall, which has been in operation for more than twenty years, and naturally blends contemporary art, street art, and the setting of an industrial factory hall along the Svitava River.
The project is led by art collectors Martin Adamec and Eva Prázdná, with Petr Hájek (founder of The Chemistry Gallery) contributing to the curatorial concept. ŠMERAL ART FACTORY will focus on contemporary art and connecting the Brno scene with Czech and international artists. During its seasonal operation from spring to fall, it will offer several exhibition blocks each year.
The Hide-and-Seek exhibition opens the new ŠMERAL ART FACTORY gallery space in Brno and, through the works of artists from the middle and youngest generations of the Brno scene, explores the need for autonomy, safety, and closeness in a world of constant scrutiny by others.
