Zbyněk Sedlecký

Zbyněk Sedlecký (born 1976) is a member of a generation of notable ar tists that emerged on the
Czech art scene around the start of the new millennium. His work tends towards figurativism – albeit a closer study of the evolution of Sedlecký’s output reveals a complex interplay of visual expression that goes far beyond standard definitions of the aesthetic scope and range of categories such as “figurative” or “abstract”painting. For Sedlecký, his paintings are not only as a documentary medium, but also as a medium for reflection. On occasion, the primar y motivation for the generation of a work of art is a desire by the artist to create a representation of a real-life moment that moved or inspired Sedlecký in some manner. On other occasions – both consciously and unconsciously – the artist offers a collection of impressions, comprised of a large number of works, focused on reflecting a par ticular and specific place, mood, atmosphere or human movement or gesture.
