VIEWS 2.0

1. 8. 2025 - 10. 8. 2025

The exhibition Views 2.0 presents a visual dialogue between the past and the present,  the street and the gallery, the subculture’s artistic expression and the general discourse on fine arts. The exhibiting artists are rooted  in the graffiti community yet have verged beyond and over tags, throw-ups and pieces into the world of free art, characterised by a distinctive style. Views 2.0 show the perceptions of the city, creative work, and the artists’ position in the context of the contemporary visual culture. But the exhibition also refers to the traditional concept of a “view” as a reflection of style, identity and respect across the art scene.

The shared origin is the authors’ unifying feature, where the street is the starting point as well as a permanent imprint. They are presented here not only as artists, but also as writers, whose names bear specific meanings within the community. The exhibition thus underlines the name as a symbol: in the context of graffiti, the name serves as a brand, a manifestation of the writer’s ego, a challenge and a memory. Within the institutional context, it takes on a new dimension – that of a cross-media signature.

The curatorial concept intentionally avoids distinction between the “gallery” art and the street art aesthetics. On the contrary, it intermingles and confronts both fields and lets them co-exist in one space. The exhibition is not intended as a nostalgic re-creation of the graffiti scene, but rather aims to map the shifts, diverse approaches, and intersections with other areas of contemporary visual language. Views 2.0 thus showcase the wide range of artworks that have grown out of the street and survived after the paint has soaked into the walls.

The exhibition witnesses the artists’ individual development but also probes into the subconscious of the scene that has affected several generations. Though heading into different directions, all the creators follow a common code: visual aggression, emphasis on form, respect for the name. It is through these “views” that the artists — and the viewers in their suit — perceive their roots in hindsight.
