Kidnapped by ghosts
Tomáš Jetela
16/09/2016 - 19/03/2017
The painter Tomáš Jetela (1986) is exceptional for being a consistent figural painter on the Czech ar t scene of his generation. In his case, a man is not just a favourite theme of paintings, to him a man is the theme in the fullest sense of the word, the way it is brought mainly by the romantic tradition. It represents a way of looking at the exclusivit y in the world around, a guider on the path with ar t but also the source of constant fascination and, at the same time, an example and motivation in one. To Tomáš Jetela, a man has been the main criterion of personal universe for a long time, and that is why a man is also an impor tant key to the interpretation of his work. This is true both in the case of old canvases and in the case of the absolutely current cycle.
