Liberated sculpture

30. 1. 2025 - 30. 3. 2025

Jaroslav Róna worked as head of the sculpture studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague from 2006 to 2013. Michal Cimala, a sculptor and designer, was his assistant almost all the time.
The exhibition LIBERATED PLASTICS follows the series of exhibitions "The Educator and His Students" and presents, alongside selected works by Róna and Cimala, the work of twenty students whom this artistic tandem led during their journey towards diverse (not only) sculptural expressions. Róna's emphasis on drawing and perfect mastery of basic sculptural techniques, as well as the balanced ratio of teacherly guidance and freedom, contributed to the quality formation of the individual talents of his students, many of whom are now among the most outstanding sculptors of the younger generation, not only in the field of studio work, but also through their realizations in public space.
