Next Targets
11. 3. 2010 - 4. 4. 2010
The goal of the Next Targets exhibition cycle is to discover new talented artists who should be the next targets for art lovers, art collectors or gallery visitors in the near future. The exhibitions of this exhibition cycle are designed in such a way that they always present two young authors whose work shows common features and lines of communication - the works of both authors thus support and complement each other, their joint presentation makes their common features and mutual differences stand out and becomes another stepping stone in the artistic career of both authors.
The second exhibition presents the work of two young painters Tomáš Jetela and Klára Vystrčilová.
Tomáš Jetela is a 5th-year student at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and attends Michael Rittstein's studio. He spent the last six months in the studio of visiting AVU pedagogue Jan Merta. In 2008, he became the winner of the Arte emocion competition organized by Seat. Following this, he spent half a year at the UCM Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. His work is characterized by a strong, often absurd theme, which is underlined by a caricature or rococo rendering. Klára Vystrčilová is a 1st-year student at the Prague Academy of Arts. He attends a realistic painting studio led by Zdenek Beran. In his paintings, however, he uses various techniques far removed from classical realistic painting, and his concept is thus closer to the expressive work of other studios.
The exhibition presents a series of works that both authors have created recently. You can see inspiration from contemporary pop culture, a preoccupation with the symbolism of glory, ruin, hope or fatality. Last year, an exhibition from the Next Targets series presented the painters Václav Misař and Tomáš Absolon.
