MURAL RUZYNĚ EXHIBITION
9.9.2026 - 18.10.2026
Since 2022, The Chemistry Gallery has been organising the Prague mural art festival Urban Pictus, which focuses on the creation of large-scale murals in public spaces. This year, the third edition of the festival is taking place from June to September, and the largest project of this edition is the Mural Ruzyně, which we carried out thanks to an initiative by the Prague 6 district in the Vlastina housing estate in Prague-Ruzyně. It is a 700-metre-long mural, created during the last two weeks of June this year, and we selected a total of 30 artists – 15 international and 15 Czech – to work on it. Each artist was allocated a 22-metre section of wall. Upon completion, the Ruzyně Mural became the third-longest collaborative mural in Europe. Its creation required 560 litres of paint and 1,600 spray cans. The theme of the mural is ‘The Beauty of a City in Motion’. You can see it at Vlastina, in the housing estate of the same name, a short distance from Prague Airport in the Prague 6 district. The project was inspired by places such as Teufelsberg in Berlin, Wynwood Walls in Miami and Bushwick in New York, where you can see large-scale open-air street art installations.
The Mural Ruzyně Exhibition showcases the work of a total of 20 international artists who contributed to the creation of the Mural Ruzyně. It primarily features works on paper, though some of the artists have also provided smaller-format paintings for the exhibition. This exhibition thus brings together in one place the visual approaches taken by the individual artists, giving visitors an insight into what the Mural Ruzyně looks like. However, you’ll get the best impression of it by seeing it in person. That’s why we recommend you pop over to Ruzyně to see the mural for yourself. It is also possible to view it from a tram, for example, as tram line 26 runs past the Mural Ruzyně. Here at the Mural Ruzyně Exhibition, you can enjoy the work of the individual artists and purchase pieces by Czech and international artists rooted in the street art scene – works that you would struggle to find all in one place elsewhere.
