Memory is Expensive

5.11.2026 – 6.12.2026

What is the hierarchical place of graphic art in the field of fine art? Is it still on the periphery? Does it depend on its position within the system of contemporary art or on the intensity of the attention we give it? Printmaking challenges the notion of the unique artistic object. It is precisely here that the tension between the original and the reproduction, between the personal gesture and the production of visual culture, emerges. At the intersection of these two spheres, we find both our collective identity and our personal experience.

For us, working with printmaking techniques is a two-way journey from the simple to the complex, from trace to structure, from stagnation to movement, from chaos to composition—and back again. An idea or visual model need not always be the first step. We begin by testing the material, creating an experimental model of representation. We are interested in both handcrafted and automated interpretations of the surrounding world, as well as the possibility of repeating and distributing the experience thus created. We seek the poetry of traces that emerge in everyday life, both in solitude and in mutual interaction. A print is a way of relating to what can be repeated but never fully recaptured, and an encouragement to look at what cannot be preserved in its entirety.
