Beetle in the head
11. 9. - 10. 10. 2015
With his “Bug in the Head”, Jan Uldrych presents a distinctive attempt at a new formulation of the genre of realism. This is all the more interesting for the fact that the offered formulation is not an expression of any need on the part of the author to “redefine”, “disrupt” or take any kind of stance in relation to the tradition of the classic illustrative moment of painting, but entirely the opposite: it is a symbol of faith in the viability of the traditional form, a faith which rests on comprehensive internal (spiritual) and external (painting) experience. Uldrych's “Bug in the Head” is about clarifying the contours of realism and reality itself.
